Anti Aging Nutrition

Anti Aging Nutrition

This page is part of the antiaging nutrition section of this website.

So, here are more anti-aging tips for you:

The best way to stay healthy and young is to eat well, sleep well, exercise in moderation and not to stress yourself.

Diet plays a big role in how young or old we look though. That is why it is good to learn more about anti aging nutrition.

Raw foodists for example, are known to look much younger than they really are. They are the ones who only eat "living" foods like fruits, vegetables, sea vegetables, nuts and seeds. No meat or diary products. And most importantly, no sugar. Of course there is sugar (fructose) in fruits, but as you will soon learn that kind of sugar is not as harmful as the sugar you would eat alone without the fruit to go with it.

Stay Away From White Sugar

White and brown table sugar is something we need to avoid if we don't want wrinkles!
You might also have heard that consuming a diet high in sugar is one of the major causes of diseases like diabetes and heart disease. And it is true, but not the whole truth. For example, a high fat diet is probably an even bigger reason for developing diabetes. But did you know, people consume more table sugar and other forms of sugar, like fructose, than ever before?

FYI: Fructose is a cheap sugar added to for example soft drinks.

Fruits also contain fructose, but researcher Dr. Richard Johnson says that because fruits contains lots of vitamin C and other anti-oxidants, the negative effects of the fructose in fruits are not at all at the same level as the fructose found in table sugar and other kinds of sugar.

We also know that our blood sugar levels are not very much affected at all when we eat whole sweet fruits, but when we eat a snack with added sugar to it, our blood sugar goes up and down like a roller coaster...

But is there really fructose in white sugar?

Table sugar consists mostly of sucrose. Sucrose is a disaccharide that comes from the condensation of fructose and glucose. See more about fructose and sucrose on Wikipedia. Dr. Joseph Mercola who interviewed Dr. Richard Johnson says 50% of regular white sugar is composed of fructose, and there are no vitamins there to counteract the fructose.

So one important step toward aging more slowly would be to start leaving out the sugar from your diet!

If you would want to measure your uric acid level, to check if you are eating too much sugar or fructose, you could have a doctor do so. Healthy levels should be anywhere around 3 to 5.5 mg per dl.

Anti Aging Nutrition - Fruits!

If you would want to avoid high fructose fruits (like dried fruits), you could but its not necessary as I mentioned above. But if you still would like to know which fruits are high in fructose, here they are: raisins, grapes, mango, dried figs, dried apricots. But again, the fructose in fruits is not something that harms the body and definitely not something that ages the body or the skin. Mango is for example a great fruit to eat if you want to look young as long as possible :)

The fruits lowest in fructose are: limes, lemon, cranberries, passion fruit, prune, apricots, guava.

More Anti Aging Nutrition Tips

Eat fresh organic fruits and vegetables every day. In addition to that, you should also make sure that you don't stress much, do some regular exercise and that you sleep well.

Breathing Exercises

Try to schedule in some breathing exercises every day too. It doesn't have to be complicated, just breathe in deeply through your nose, keep your breath for as long as you feel comfortable doing so and then relax your shoulders while breathing out through your mouth. Do this a few times after each other for example in the morning and in the evening. It will help you relax and look less tense. It will also help you get more oxygen into your cells, muscles and brain. Among others, this will prevent future headaches and migraines.

The sun gives us vitamin D, but too much ages the skin...

To further prevent premature aging, use a sun cap or sunglasses when you are out in the sun, take care of yourself and don't use strong products on your skin - like chemical acne treatments...
