2. Eating broccoli on a regular basis helps fight cancer. It prevents the formation of carcinogens or any substance that can cause cancer that may react to our sensitive body tissues.

3. Broccoli contains indole, which is another group of chemicals that may help lower the risk of getting the herpes virus.

4. Broccoli is good for our digestive system and cholesterol levels because of its high fiber content.

5. Broccoli contains Vitamin K, the blood-clotting vitamin which is produced naturally by our intestines.

6. broccoli helps reduce the risk of your baby having birth defects. Some pregnant women are having a baby with cleft palate or neural tube, and studies have shown that it may be because of the lack of folate. Broccoli is a good source of folate. One raw of broccoli spear contains of about 107 mcg folate.

Eating Broccoli

1. It is good to eat some of your broccoli raw, because fresh raw broccoli consists up to 40 percent more Vitamin C than when it is cook or frozen. Steamed is also good, because you might be able to eat a larger quantity of broccoli that way, but try to at least have some raw broccoli too.

2. When you cook frozen broccoli, it is better to let the water boil for only about 60 seconds to cut the loss of vitamin C, because when you boil frozen broccoli for longer than a minute, so much of the vitamin C is destroyed.

3. Avoid buying broccoli where its stalks or florets have turned yellow.

4. If you want to put the broccoli in the refrigerator, wrap it in a plastic bag, usually it will last for about two weeks in the fridge. Try to keep broccoli in a dark place if not kept in the fridge, otherwise it will loose its vitamin C.
