Facts About Blueberries and Health Benefits of Blueberries

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants, and one of them is vitamin C. They also have a very high fiber content. They have a low GI and are therefore a suitable food for the diabetics. Just make sure you eat them without any added sugar.

Blueberries Health Benefits

Studies have shown that blueberries contain an antioxidant and cancer fighting phytonutrient called anthocyanin. This phytonutrient sits in the skin of the blueberry.

Other health benefits of blueberries:

In a new study done in Sweden, they discovered that the fiber in blueberries actually also protects the colon against infection. This study also showed that if you eat blueberries together with good bacterias (those found in for example yogurt) the effect is even stronger and there was a positive effect on the immune system.

Blueberries also prevent dementia, aging, urinary tract infection and heart disease.

A lot of benefits from such a little berry right? Buy them fresh whenever they are in season, but frozen are also good.
