Can fresh fruit cause acne? Fresh fruit can not cause acne. It is more likely some other foods you ate that same day that caused the acne. Did you eat any type of grains that day? Pasta, cookies, cereal or bread? Some people will tell you that the sugar in fruit might cause acne. But rather than blaming the sugar in fruit for the acne, it would be better to blame processed and refined foods like bread, cookies and cereal. Because pasta, bread, cookies and cereal along with other high carbohydrate precessed foods lead to excess sugar production in the body. So your insulin levels goes up after eating such foods. High insulin levels can lead to high levels of male hormones, which in turn leads the skin to produce acne sebum. And also.. fresh fruit is much lower in sugar than for example fruit juice. For example, an orange contains 6 grams of sugar while orange juice contains 20.8 grams of sugar. So why not blame the juice instead? Want to read some more on this subject? If you still feel that every time you eat a larger amount of fruit you get skin irritations or rashes of some sort, this can be due to detox! Because eating lots of fruit usually causes your body to start detoxing. Which is a good thing. But sometimes inconvenient - if it shows in your skin. The rashes should dissappear soon after your system is done detoxing. Unless you stuff yourself with food full of toxins once again, and your body will need to start all over...
