iodine-rich foods

by Helen Scott
(Mitcham, Victoria Australia)

I probably have a goiter in right side of my neck. I am female, aged 66, and have had an ultrasound of my neck. My doctor is waiting on a result of scans. He will then probably refer me to an Ear, nose & throat specialist. What are the best foods to eat, to reduce the goiter? Thank you. Helen Scott, in Australia.

Iodine

Hello Helen,

Thanks for your question!

Another visitor has asked something very similar. I answered it here: What Fruits and Vegetables Contain Iodine

You should definitely try to eat sea vegetables every day. For example kelp, which is a very good source of iodine. I have heard there is kelp powder you can sprinkle on your food - maybe you should try that out?

All the best,

Tonia
