Just wanted to add something about Benji :)

by Tonia
(Helsinki)

Hi! This is Tonia.

I just wanted to add something about Benji. Something that has more to do with parenting than nutrition :)

Yesterday while we sat in the tram he asked me why some families are so "unpersonal". I asked him what he meant and he said:
"They are not like us... the kids don't seem to need or love their parents that much and the parents are so strict with them".

Then he went on talking about the families we know that he thought were " unpersonal".

What Benji does not know is that I have been practicing attachment parenting with him. Especially during his early years. You can also call it connected parenting.

For example, I have always responded to his cues and cries, I always carried him around, breastfed him until he was almost 4(!) and we still co-sleep. And as he has grown older I have always taken time to play with him and talk with him too. I also try to respect his views anytime there is an issue.

So I think what he actually meant with "unpersonal" (is there such a word?) was not connected!

:)

The Beautiful Truth
by: Leila

I love what you wrote here Tonia. I have the same parenting style and my little guy (7) Jude, is just as forthright, honest and connected with his emotions and his truth. So is my 20 yr old son Django. A truly lovely human being.
It's beautiful to imagine a world filled with adults (especially men!!) who have been raised and loved this way. We, connected mothers, are the leaders in a spiritual revolution. Yay!
