What are the mangosteen fruit benefits?

There are for sure a lot of mangosteen fruit benefits, but unfortunately there has not been too much research done on this topic yet.

But what we do know, is that the mangosteen contains something called "mangostin" and it is said to have anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Other benefits include the high fiber amount and of course the antioxidants.

Did you know? The mangosteen contains double the amount of fiber than a banana - about 5 grams.

It is not yet a very well-known fruit in the western world, but you might have seen it as a juice in the store. Maybe you wonder if it is worth buying...?

As you probably might guess, I always recommend eating the fresh fruit to drinking the processed juice.

Mangosteen Juice
If you can't find the fresh fruit anywhere, and still want the health benefits this fruit provides, the juice is an alternative.

Mangosteen Powder
Like the acai berry or acai fruit, the mangosteen might also come as a powder. Check in your local health food store :)

The reason I know there is acai powder, is that me and Benji (my son), were shopping in an organic supermarket the other day. Then I suddenly saw a raw smoothie bar at the back of the store. It was new, because I have been to that store many times but I have never seen that smoothie bar.

Benji ordered a smoothie with bananas, acai berry powder, blueberry powder, vanilla and some water. Mmmm...

So how does the mangosteen fruit look like?

The pulp of this fruit is white and very sweet. The hard rind is purple.

The fruit grows in Southeast Asia :)

Hope you enjoyed this page!
