Pineapple Nutrition Facts The pineapple is a delicious, very sweet fruit. It is high in vitamins such as vitamin C and folic acid.
The pineapple is also very high in manganese. Manganese is an essential mineral, for example used by the body to build the bones. The pineapple fruit also contains digestive enzymes and a good amount of fiber. But as with any fruit, be sure to eat the pineapple
before a meal
rather than after. The fiber that the pineapple contains protects us from colon cancer. The fiber help our colon to move faster and that way the carcinogens leave our system faster. Fiber in general lowers the "bad" cholesterol (LDL) levels and is therefor good for our heart. So it is for sure good to eat a lot of fiber, which the pineapple contains a decent amount of. - Vitamin C 79 mg = about 130% of the of the recommended daily value - Vitamin B6 0.2 mg = about 9% of the DV - Folate 29.5 mg = about 7 % of the DV - Manganese 1.5 mg = about 80% of the DV - Calories about 82 (but a glass of pineapple juice has 140 calories...) - Fiber 2.2 grams - Protein 1 gram Also potassium (5% of the DV) and some Iron (3% of the DV) and some vitamin A (2% of the DV).
The pineapple grows in Southeast Asia and some parts of South America. There are many varieties of the pineapple. Here is a "Mini pineapple" I found in the supermarket :)
