Protein
Are there proteins in here?
Don't you need to eat meat to get protein?
Answer: No, you do not have to eat meat to get this specific essential nutrient.
I know this question is something many of you think about. Vegetarians and vegans are often asked this question.
Well, I can tell you that...
All foods have proteins in them, so there is really no problem there. The theory that you have to eat many pr. sources at one meal because some are incomplete is old fashioned. Your body can match them up later, and take some from one food and some from one food. No need to worry at all really, your body is way smarter than you think :)
Nuts for example are an excellent source. Seeds too. And if you are not a raw vegan or on a raw food diet, have some quinoa once in a while. Quinoa is supposed to be a pretty good quality source.
There are also vegan powders that are high in this nutrient, like pea powder that you could add to juice or smoothies. Did you know that? :)
Speaking of smoothies, here is a fruit and vegetable smoothie with vegetable pr. for you to try:
Never Thought Of Giving It A Name - Protein Smoothie RecipeNot getting enough of this nutrient is such a common thing non-vegetarians, some vegetarians and also those who want to build muscle worry about. But really it is no problem to get enough of it through a healthy diet. Nuts, nut butters, seeds, lentils, quinoa, chickpeas, beans... so many sources to choose from. Even fruits and vegetables contain a little of it. A banana contains 1 .5 grams :)
There are a lot of vegan and raw vegan athletes and body builder out there. Maybe you could take a look at what they eat and do the same?
