Vegetable soup diet to lose weight... Is there such a thing?
If you would go on a 100% vegetable diet/vegetable soup diet to lose weight, how would that diet look like... you would only be "allowed" to eat veggies and veggie soup, right?
Well, it is true you wouldn't get much calories or fat through your diet that way, and as a result you would lose weight.
But would you be able to stick with that vegetable soup diet long term? And... would it even be healthy to do it long term?
I guess if you would plan your diet really well, a vegetable soup diet or at least a vegetable diet could work. For example, nutrition expert Kardena Pauza has developed a program called Easy Veggie Meal Plans which is a vegetable diet program. Read more about it here:
Veggie Meal Plans For Weight Loss
The healthiest and most effective long term plan to lose weight though, is to become a raw vegan. As a raw vegan you will be eating lots of vegetables, salads, smoothies and some nuts and seeds.
You could for example eat fruit for breakfast and large salads with fruit for dessert the rest of the day. Or you could eat raw (freshly made without heating it up) veggie or fruit soups/smoothies. And maybe snack on nuts. Anything and as much as you like (at least in the beginning), as long as it is raw!
That doesn't sound like something very complicated or difficult, does it?
But of course there are still many people who want to stay raw once they have started, but don't find it very easy. Most of the time this is because they are not easting enough. Yes, you are allowed to eat a lot when you are raw!
Do you want to find out how one guy lost over 200 lbs (about 90,5 kilos)?
A few years ago Philip McCluskey from Lovingraw, used to weigh over 400 lbs! He was ready for a gastric bypass, but luckily he found a healthier option - becoming raw! Philip has a few books and a DVD that could help you on your way to doing the same. Here is the link to his site: Lovingraw
Below you can listen to a very interesting interview where Philip tells Revvell Revati how he had been the "fat kid" all his life and then in his late 20's weighed 400 pounds. By becoming raw, he lost 200 ponds!
But hey, if you are still thinking about going on that vegetable soup diet, one thing to remember is: your body actually NEEDS calories and some healthy fats too...
Your body needs calories for you to have normal energy levels. And your body needs some fat each day too... but not the wrong kind of fat! Not the kind you find in junk food... but the kind of fat you find in fruits and nuts - and of course in vegetables too, but veggies don’t contain enough of it for anyone to live on ONLY veggies.
So a wiser "weight loss nutrition program" than a vegetable soup diet would be to include lots of fruits in this diet, and also some nuts and seeds. And make it a fun long-term project... because losing weight is about changing your lifestyle.
There are endless types of weight-loss diets out there, but believe me, non of them work. Because losing weight is about changing the way you eat permanently.
And... losing weight does not have to be complicated.
Here is a CNN News video on overcoming obesity by following a raw lifestyle.
The Raw Food Diet
is actually the single most effective way in losing weight. It is also the healthiest way of losing weight. You want to be healthy right?
Another person who managed to lose a lot of weight by changing his eating habits, is Chris Paris. This is what Chris said about his weight loss: "I feel so much better, it's like losing 15 - 20 years of age, just wonderful!" To see before and after pics of Chris, go here:
So a vegetable diet or vegetable soup diet to lose weight? Not really...
Instead check out these tips on starting your new lifestyle - with healthy weight loss:
Eat many really sweet fruits throughout the day - like ripe mangoes and bananas. Because when you eat those frequently, you will not only get lots of great nutrients into your body, you will also not crave other less healthy foods so much.
Don't worry about the calories in fruits, they don’t matter at all! They are NOTHING compared to any junk food or other fatty meals you used to have.
Don't be too strict with yourself! Because that will only set you up for failure.
Sometimes you try to
live healthy and focus on healthy nutrition
for a while and find it hard due to lack of support from family and friends or maybe because of a food addiction.
The best way to go about that is to not be so strict with yourself...
So you might have a few unhealthy slips here and there, but hey - that's ok!
As long as you eat an overall
healthy diet
and keep eating healthier and healthier and changing your ways, you will be fine! Try to be more understanding towards yourself. When you eat something you later feel you shouldn’t have, just smile and move on.
Don't think about what you did yesterday. Think about what you are doing today.
In my experience it's best to slowly eat more and more fruits and vegetables... and less of the bad stuff. That way, maybe one day you will start craving fruits and veggies instead of that chocolate cake!
